The George Washington A Wyndham Grand Hotel

We recently stayed at the George Washington Hotel in Winchester for our anniversary. The property itself has beautiful historic charm and a sense of old-world character, but the rooms could definitely use a refresh. The furniture feels dated and subpar for a Wyndham Grand, and small things like a burned-out bathroom nightlight and older-style shower/tub setups stood out. A walk-in shower would really elevate the experience. The amenities were solid overall—the pool and hot tub area were nice, though the water could have been hotter with a bit more bubbling action. Some soft spa-style background music in that area would also go a long way in creating a more relaxing atmosphere. The gym was unfortunately out of service, which we weren’t aware of before arrival, and there was no equipment available due to renovations. That was disappointing. Parking was a bit of a hit or miss; for a property that charges for parking, it’s frustrating when you still have to use the adjacent garage because hotel spots are limited. On a positive note, the staff was very kind, friendly, and went above and beyond. I actually booked online because when I called the front desk, they told me there was no availability—yet I found an open room on both their website and Airbnb. Thankfully, we were able to reserve it in time for our stay. A few small touches, like providing bottled water in the pool/hot tub area, would enhance the guest experience. Overall, this is a charming historic property with great staff and potential—it just needs some modern updates to match the Wyndham name and the quality of its service team.

Really nice hotel. Very clean. Staff was really friendly. Large rooms w good pillows and mattresses. Cool bar. Good restaurant. Very laid back. Would certainly come back.

This is a wonderful grand hotel with much nostalgia. Everything about it exudes class right down to the background music in the lobby. The staff are wonderful and the cleanliness is outstanding. The beds are possible the most comfortable I've ever experienced. We did not have time to use the wonderful pool or to take advantage of the spa, but we would certainly like to in the future. The hotel is within walking distance of all that Old Town Winchester has to offer. We look forward to a return visit.

Couldn’t ask for a better stay. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, helpful, and efficient. Didn’t have to wait on the phone long or wait long for room service. Booking and checking in/out took seconds. Everything ran exactly the way you want it to when you go to a hotel. Parking was easy. The room was comfortable and clean, the pool was lovely, and the event we came for in the ballroom was beautiful. Perfection!

The hotel is very centrally located near old town Winchester. The staff were very nice and provided great customer service throughout the stay. We were able to get breakfast quickly and were offered assistance by staff during our stay.

We had a great stay. We were heading south and picked Winchester as a good stopping point. Winchester is a very nice colonial town and we loved our stay at the GW. Very clean room. The staff was very attentive. We will be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our little getaway prior to the upcoming holiday season. Very relaxing. Beds comfy. Shower was nice. Very clean. The Christmas decorations were very nicely done. Pool and hot tub area was clean and heated perfectly. Close to all the wonderful little shops and very nice restaurants! Will definitely be returning!

The George Washington Wyndham Grand hotel, is a much-welcomed hotel for us when visiting family in the area. We've had 2 recent stays (thanksgiving and Christmas) and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The Christmas decorations were very beautifully done, especially the stunning large, lobby Christmas tree. We booked suite accommodations and were very pleased. The accommodation included a separate living room with a fireplace, extra-large spa-like bathroom, and a very comfortable four poster bed. And the lobby bar was a highlight — comfortable, inviting, and a great place to enjoy cocktails and wine in the evenings. The hotel is clean and well maintained. we experienced no issues during our stay. Front desk staff is friendly and courteous. The location is a convenient quick walk to lots of shopping and restaurants in the pedestrian only area.
